Weekly Standup: A New Month and Some New Moves

Weekly Standup: A New Month and Some New Moves

Written this week by Jonathan Negron, Back End Engineer

December is going to be a huge month for us. We have a big offsite planning meeting in New York in a few days, are building multiple new features including Moves and Piere Pulse, and have a couple other surprises we’ll wait to unwrap with you next week. Moves is the main feature we’re getting ready to release this month, and speaking for myself (and the engineering team), it’s the one keeping us up around the clock because this year, the entire product has been leading to Moves.

I’m writing this right after this morning’s planning call. The energy was high and everyone had strong opinions. Product wants us to add two new functions into the December release of Moves, marketing wants to know exact dates so they can line up holiday campaigns, and we (engineering) are all too aware of how many real working weeks we have left in 2025.

Our engineering squad has been working through a new, AI-driven way of managing money with Moves. Coming very soon, if your checking balance dips below where it should be, Moves will automatically transfer money from savings to cover upcoming expenses. If you’ve got extra cash sitting in checking, Moves will automatically transfer it to an account that earns interest, such as your savings. If you like to save money immediately when your paycheck hits, Moves can do that for you, too. And all of this, plus more, has to happen safely and securely.

I’m sitting in the middle of all this, translating everyone’s POV and product input into the development work required. The more I listened,, the more I doubled down on the conclusion that getting Moves out soon matters for everyone’s New Year financial goals. You all have big things to accomplish in 2026. Almost all of those require money, and Moves is the tool that can make it happen while you focus on everything else but your money.

The urgency on our team has spiked as we head into the holidays. No one wants to be the group grinding through December nights, but we also know that getting this right will shape our users’ Januarys and anchor their New Year’s resolutions. This week’s conversations have been…spirited (marketing insisted this is the right word for it). We’re pushing hard to get Moves out the door with the level of testing and polish it deserves, all before the calendar flips. I can’t genuinely overstate how central this feature is to our vision and to your experience on Piere.

There were a few paths on the table: ways to phase things in, ways to ship sooner, ways to ship slower. But the conversation kept circling back to the same principle we’ve always run on—do what creates the most value for you, our users.

That clarity is what grounded us. It reminded me why we started building Piere in the first place, and why getting Moves out this month matters.

After digging in together, we decided to stay aligned with our original timeline. The team has put in real work, real thought, and real care. I’m proud of what we’ve built. Few people in tech actually get to innovate, and that’s the opportunity we’ve created for ourselves with Moves. We’ve created something no one has seen before, with actual value that you all have told us you want.

That is where our minds are right now. We have a short month, Moves is finally nearing the finish line, other features like Piere Pulse will be out before you know it. We’re a devoted team trying to make the smartest moves for our users, balancing cool-to-have with must-have, while carrying the weight of making it all happen under the twinkling holiday lights.

We’ll keep you in the loop as it unfolds, and we hope you come along for the ride.
