Seamless migration between data providers (Plaid/MX) without losing account history

When switching a bank connection from one data provider to another (e.g., from MX to Plaid), closed accounts and their transaction history that cannot be automatically mapped to the new connection are currently at risk of being lost or orphaned. Users who want to switch providers for reliability reasons are blocked from doing so because there is no safe, user-friendly way to migrate their historical data.

It would be very helpful to have a guided migration flow that:
– Attempts to automatically match existing accounts to newly linked accounts
– Preserves transaction history for accounts that can be matched
– Surfaces a clear warning and resolution path for accounts that cannot be mapped (e.g., closed accounts)
– Prevents data loss when users switch between Plaid and MX connections for the same institution

This would allow users to improve their connection reliability without sacrificing their financial history.
