Understanding Moves

Moves help you put your money in the right place at the right time so you’re earning more, avoiding fees, staying on track, and getting the most out of every dollar. Moves make it easy to automatically optimize how your money flows across your accounts.

Think of Moves as your personal money autopilot. You tell Piere the goal, and Moves will help you follow through by suggesting or scheduling transfers that keep you moving in the right direction. You can choose to stay fully in control or let Piere work for you.

The Moves Tab #

When you open the Moves tab, the first thing you’ll see is:

Your total upcoming transfers for the week #

This is the sum of all Moves scheduled in whatever view you’re looking at (This Week, This Month, or Next Month).

➕ The “+ Move” button #

You can add a new Move anytime like setting aside money for savings, covering expenses, or following your plan.

Upcoming Activity #

This shows the Moves you have coming up.

You can choose:

  • This week (default)
  • This month
  • Next month

Each Move card shows:

  • The date it’s planned for
  • How much money will move
  • The name of the Step (“Save when I get Paid”, etc.)
  • A Move Now button if you’d like to do it early

✔️ Why this matters #

This section helps you stay ahead.
Examples:

  • You can see exactly what’s happening with your paycheck.
  • You can understand how much you’re saving this week.
  • You can avoid surprises because you know what’s about to move.

Moves in Motion #

These are Moves that already started, but the money is still moving between your accounts.

ACH transfers take time (usually 1–5 business days), so this helps you see:

  • What already left your account
  • What’s still on the way

Example: #

You moved $50 into savings yesterday. It hasn’t arrived yet, so you’ll see it here.

Past Moves (Last 30 Days) #

This tab shows everything you’ve completed recently.

You can filter by:

  • All
  • AutoMove — transfers that Piere handled for you
  • Manual — transfers you completed yourself
  • Skipped — Moves you chose not to do

If you haven’t completed anything yet, you’ll see a friendly message letting you know.

For Review (Moves That Need Attention) #

Sometimes a Move can’t be completed, usually because a bank disconnected, a balance wasn’t available, or something changed.

When that happens, the Move appears here with an orange (!) icon.

When you tap it, you’ll see:

  • What happened
  • Why it couldn’t be completed
  • What you can do next

You can choose to:

  • Retry the Move
  • Skip it

This helps you stay on track even if life (or your bank) throws a curveball.

Your Piere Wallet #

Tapping the wallet icon shows you:

  • Money in Motion — money currently transferring
  • Available Balance — money you can move right now

Move Detail Screen #

This screen appears when you tap any Move. It explains:

Where the money is going #

You’ll see a clean diagram:

  • Which account the money is coming from
  • Which account it’s going into
  • The amount
  • The scheduled date

About This Move #

A simple explanation showing:

  • What this Move is for
  • Whether it’s planned, in progress, or already completed

Move Safely #

This shows your safety settings like protecting your balance so you don’t accidentally move too much.

Overview #

This lists:

  • The plan this Move belongs to
  • The step inside that plan
  • The specific rule (for example: “$100.00 every payday”)

Completing a Move #

Piere always puts you in control, and you’ll see one of these options:

Move Now #

You want to complete the Move early — great if:

  • You have extra cash
  • You’re feeling motivated
  • You just want to check it off your list

Mark Complete #

If you already moved the money yourself outside of Piere, use this to record it.

Skip Move #

If you decide not to do the Move, you can skip it. While you can’t undo this action, you can create a new manual one time move to replace it once that option is enabled in the Piere app.

Examples of How People Use Moves #

✔️ Building consistency #

“I kept meaning to save every payday but always forgot. Now I just create a rule to Move $100 to savings every time my paycheck hits”

✔️ Staying on budget #

You can move money from savings → checking to cover large weeks of spending, helping avoid overdrafts.

✔️ Preventing impulse spending #

Move extra money out of checking so it’s not sitting where you’re tempted to spend it.

✔️ Growing savings without stress #

Your plan tells you what to save — Moves help you follow through.

If a Move Can’t Be Completed #

A Move may not go through if:

  • Your bank disconnected
  • Your balance wasn’t available
  • Something changed with the account
  • You’re on a new device
  • Your bank temporarily restricted transfers

In this case, you’ll see:

  • A message explaining what went wrong
  • Your options to retry or skip

You never lose your plan you just choose what happens next.

Troubleshooting Tips #

My Move disappeared #

It may have:

  • Completed
  • Been skipped
  • Been moved to “For Review”

Check the other tabs.

The amount looks wrong #

Open the Move Detail screen to see:

  • The exact rule
  • How the amount was calculated
  • The accounts involved

A Move didn’t automatically run #

Some Moves require your approval unless you turn on AutoMove.

Reasons it may not have run:

  • You didn’t approve the Move
  • Your bank balance changed and you hit a guardrail

My balance looks off #

Tap your bank in Piere and refresh the connection.

You’re in Control #

Moves do the heavy lifting of keeping your financial plan on track but you decide exactly what happens with your money.

Each week, Moves give you:

  • A clear, organized list of what’s coming
  • The confidence to follow through
  • A simple way to build better money habits

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Moves can I make per month? #

You can create and complete up to 10 Moves per month.
This includes any combination of saving, budgeting, or debt-related Moves you set up in Piere.

For most people, 10 Moves is more than enough to run a healthy financial routine. Even if you manage multiple accounts or have a detailed plan, you’ll still have plenty of flexibility.

If you reach the limit, new Moves will resume automatically the following month.
