Before you can move money in Piere, we need to verify your identity. This helps protect your account and keeps your funds safe. We work with a trusted partner called Dwolla to complete this process.
Most people pass verification right away, but sometimes Dwolla may need extra information before your account can be approved. Below is what each status means and what you may need to do next.
Verified #
This means everything went through successfully. Your information matched public records, and you’re all set to use money movement features.
We Need You to Try Again #
Sometimes the first attempt doesn’t go through because something didn’t match. There may be a typo, a recent name change, or an address that hasn’t been updated yet.
You’ll get two more chances to fix and resubmit your information. Make sure everything matches your legal documents, especially your name, date of birth, home address, and last four digits of your Social Security number. If the second attempt doesn’t work, you may be asked to upload a document. Please reach out to the Piere support team if you’re asked to upload a document.
We Need You to Answer a Few Identity Questions #
If automatic verification still can’t confirm your identity, you may be asked to answer a short set of multiple-choice questions about your past such as old addresses, cars you’ve owned, or loans you’ve had. These questions are designed to verify that it’s really you.
You only get one attempt at these questions, so answer carefully.
Your Account Is Suspended #
If Dwolla is unable to verify your identity even after all the steps above, your account may be suspended from sending or receiving funds. This doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong, it simply means Dwolla couldn’t confirm your identity using the information available.
If this happens, contact Piere Support and we’ll help you figure out the next steps.
Common Reasons Verification Fails #
These are some of the most common issues we see:
- Typos in your name, address, date of birth, or Social Security number
- Using a nickname instead of your legal name
- Recently moving to a new address
- Not having much credit history
- Uploading a blurry or cropped ID photo
Most verification issues can be fixed with a simple retry or a clear ID upload.
