This split is a core financial planning tool. It lets users immediately see their baseline fixed costs versus flexible spending, track trends for each category type independently, and understand how much financial flexibility they actually have each month. Without it, users have to manually add up fixed costs across individual budget categories to get this picture.

Request: restore the mandatory vs. discretionary breakdown as a prominent, top-level view in the budget interface – or surface it in another easily accessible way so users can monitor both their fixed commitments and their variable spending at a glance.
